Common Dallas Pests
Termites
Termites are small, social insects that feed on wood and other cellulose-based materials.
They are often referred to as “silent destroyers” because they can cause significant damage to homes and buildings without being detected for long periods of time.
Termites are typically pale in color, and can range in size from ¼ inch to ½ inch in length. They have a soft body and straight antennae, and their wings are typically longer than their body. Termites live in colonies and are organized into different castes, including workers, soldiers, and reproductive termites.
Termites are known for their ability to consume wood, causing structural damage to buildings and other wooden structures. They often enter buildings through cracks in the foundation or other openings in the structure, and can quickly begin to cause damage once inside.
If left untreated, termite infestations can cause significant damage to a home or building, leading to costly repairs. It’s important to take preventative measures to protect your property from termites, including regular inspections, proper ventilation, and eliminating any moisture or water sources that may attract termites.
